Now we know that a lot of brides go to extreme measures just to find the perfect wedding dress. (If you’ve seen an episode of any wedding-based reality TV, then you know exactly what I’m talking about.) But how about that wedding veil? Have you given any serious thought to that?
Should you wear a veil? It’s completely up to you! This is a long-standing tradition (it dates back to ancient Greeks and Romans; the veil is supposed to protect the bride from evil spirits), but you don’t have to follow this tradition if you don’t want to. Some brides just go with a really cool headpiece-check out our last post for some options here :
If you are contemplating the more traditional route, though, then here are your choices for length: It can be cathedral-length. These are the really formal veils usually worn with dresses with a really long train (and the veil exceeds this train by at least six inches). If you haven’t decided on a dress (shocker!) and want your veil to go with any dress you decide on, you can either opt for veils that fall on your shoulders or one that brushes your elbow or your fingertips.

WEDDING: Michael and Aubrey Elmore Zamiara
Dr. Aubrey S. Elmore of Attica and Michael J. Zamiara of Rochester were united in marriage Aug. 20, 2011, at The Plantation Party House in Spencerport. Officiant James McGowan performed the ceremony for the daughter of Gerald and Susan Elmore of Attica and the son of John and Mary Sue Zamiara of Spencerport.
The bride wore a pale ivory gown lavishly embellished with white and pearl beading. Her headpiece was a cathedral length veil custom made by the mother of the bridegroom. She carried a bouquet of cream colored roses, calla lilies, orchids and green hydrangeas.
Marissa Poletti of Wakefield, Mass. was maid of honor. Lynn Thomas of Pittsford was matron of honor. John Zamiara of Spencerport, father of the bridegroom.
Bridesmaids were Jessica Elmore of Attica, sister-in-law of the bride and Kristen Zamiara of Rochester, sister of the bridegroom.
Ushers were Josh Bowman of Rochester, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, Michael Samperi of Rochester and John Elmore of Attica, brother of the bride.
